Plastic and food.. what has the world gotten them selves into?
I decided to take an environmental course. It almost the best i had by far except microbiology this semester. I found the course very unique. Especially when my prof. throws in topics I never noticed. did you know until recently:

I think 2 years ago or so.. There was a ban on a plastic? Baby bottles, soda bottles, etc. contained an enzyme that lowered sperm count, deformed babies/premature births, and even more.

I found this a huge shock. Remembering, those days that you left a bottle outside and when you took a sip of it, and it tasted like plastic? Well there is your answer. Scientists started to believe when experimental male rats started to have problems with there reproductive system. Thoroughly testing the lab what could have caused it.. they found the cages of the rat caused to be the problem.

The caused of the accident was when washing of the rat cages, it's under immense heat from the water. Making the plastic produce enzymes from the plastic. Nowadays, if you actually look at your bottles that you drink from. The recycle sign then under it is PETA or something of that sort. The new formula.

But, if humans aren't still using those products... why are is it still in our system? Are we consuming them through the air? Or is it that the body can't break them down? Well.. as a result of this. I stopped using plastic items at all. I buy my items in glass. What an eye opener.

Food is a big subject, right? Who doesn't like to eat.

So is it not a good choice to eat healthy and worry about what we put into our bodies? Well most of us are. Organic food has a been trend nowadays and it's a good thing. Since the 1970's a ban of a pesticide product was discontinued. It was used during the W.war II for farming and bugs(head lice, etc). And, It even helped Europe to rebuild there farming and provide nutrition(more food). Although, now it has taken a toll.

United Stated has discontinued the pesticide since it affected the bald eagle- endanger list. The bald eagle had a hard time producing babies. Well somewhat, the bald eagle would still have the baby.. but when born the shell would be soft and rubbery. Egg shells contain calcium. And these shells didn't. It was speculated that the pesticide caused the problem - to the bird species. Imagine a bird getting ready to sit on the eggs, but the eggs aren't hard.. squish. =/

United States since have banned the use on our products grown here, but we still produce and export the pesticide. don't you find that odd??? If we banned it, why would we produce it? interesting... but for the most part. We purchase fruits, meats, and other food products from other countries. So, couldn't the food we import have these pesticides??? O_O.

A Little About Myself

  • Quiet and self-reserved as I am, I don’t tend to say much. I’m one of those people with too many thoughts buzzing through my head and somehow manage to keep it all inside. But if you get to know me well enough with time, you’ll find how much more open I can be =). I speak Vietnamese with my parents and if necessary, I throw in a bit of english here and there. I’m someone who doesn’t like to dwell in the past; it’s much easier just living life day by day with what it already has to offer you. I'm an athletic person....so working out is my favorite hobby, the gym is like my 2nd home. I'm sometimes a bit too tolerant and indecisive for my own good, but that's slowly changing with time And to say the least, my lovely friends and family are a major contribution to my life and shaping me to who I am today =D. I’m extremely restless and sometimes find it difficult to stay on task or concentrate on one thing. As for school, well... procrastination. Enough said =P. Who doesn't? Just taking the time to enjoy the very simple things in life can easily bring you relaxation and contentment, in my opinion anyway. Oh, and if you happen to see this girl randomly trip on a nicely evened out pavement/sidewalk with no cracks or holes to its name, that would most likely be me. Anything else? Reality’s the way to go =D
